Glass

After learning about different techniques for working with glass at Pratt Fine Art in Seattle, Bullseye Glass in Portland and BARN on Bainbridge Island WA I am slowly becoming proficient in creating kiln-formed pieces including drop-out bowls, slumped plates and bowls as well as cast glass items. The properties of the glass (color, shape and texture) are so exciting because the combinations are infinite and the reactions to the time and temperature in the kiln are intricate and in some cases surprising. The need to combine art/design with science is what I’ve found most challenging and rewarding.
